Baird’s Analysis of American Campus Communities (ACC)

Here are a few lines from an AP article titled “American Campus Shares Up After 2009 Guidance“:

“Robert W. Baird & Co. analyst Paula Poskon reiterated her “Outperform” rating on the shares in a research note Wednesday.

Poskon said that student housing revenue isn’t affected as much by economic conditions as apartments, so more investors may consider the sector as the economy deteriorates.

Specifically, Poskon said that American Campus’ operating margins have topped its peers and its performance as a public company has been more consistent. Additionally, its development pipeline offers more opportunities for growth, she said.”

Why am I posting this? I think it’s funny. You don’t get the joke? You will when ACC is trading at 7/8 of a buck (that’s my price target).

I’m also forecasting that auditors and business appraisers are going to go through ACC’s books at some point in the future. After some very simple analysis, they will testify that no professional analyst using ordinary skill could NOT conclude that ACC is overvalued.

ACC closed at $18.33 today. If you are reading this and it is 2010 or later, please pull up a quote on ACC. What’s the stock price? Is it even trading? Ha Ha - neat trick huh?

Its still trading, Richard. I still have a short position, problem is you do not know how long they can raise money in the debt market and pay it back to the shareholders as a “dividend”…
